Millenial Photographers Remind Us that Instagram Filters are Juvenile

There is a saying that goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words" Some pictures are not. There are photos that are directive and they send actual messages. Here are some really great millenial photographers who do a great job of sending clear messages in the work they produce.

As the millenial generation ages, we navigate the world of personal branding, curated life, and an oversaturation of images more than previous generations. Its is important to remember that capturing life and society is an artform that is alive. Photographers have a innate skill of what I call the "Freeze-frame eye." Photographers have a unique ability see images in the beauty that they see around them in very non conventional ways. Photographers inspire me to see the world around me in a different way, to notice that even the most decayed and dillapidated landscape

There has been much discussion about photo sharing apps such as Instagram replacing photography. However, the work of these 5 phtographers are prrof that photography is still alive, imaginative and just as innovative as it has ever been.

Jersean Gollat of Dallas, Born in San Francisco, CA, JerSean began his creative journey at the age of 14. Since then he's worked with companies and personalities alike in hope to give them a sense of direction and look and feel to their brand

Adrienne Raquel, a true polymath, produces work that is very bold and very feminine. She is an all around creative who has a signature touch of minimalism and strength. Her use of matte color reminds me of print ads in the 90s.

John Edmonds of NYC has keen eye for pulling ambiguous yet drawing emotion from the his in his photographs of black men. Edmonds' work evokes femininity event in the most blunt objects. My breathe is taken away.

Bria Celeste is a traveling photographer from Anchorage, Alaska. S. She has knack for color and expressing youth through the portraits of her subjects. In the above image, Celeste managed to convey warm and brighter expression while the subject has a expressed stoism on their face.

Mikael Aldo has the ability to bring whim to your eyes. He has a gift for building what feels like fairy tales scenes through his lens. A native of Indonesia, Aldo's work will captivate you and invite you to a place that does not exist onthis planet.

Michael McCoy captures momemts in the new social justice movement and the people who emody the movement. He is a self-proclaimed "storyteller through phtography"
